WARNING: STRONG VIOLENCE AHEAD

Ah VxS, the company always willing to try something new and risky. Well, in this case, something that was only ever really attempted for WrestleMania 2 and swiftly forgotten about. That’s right, they were doing a dual-venue super show, taking on New Jersey and Los Angeles at the same time. East coast vs West coast with both sides of the coin boasting some unique matches. For the East coast, Dr Redacted vs Big F’N Vin, Wasted Youth vs Wrestling Prodigies, Lucky 13 vs a giant, Yoya vs Kevin Ku, and more with Zachary Wentz vs Shane Mercer as its crown jewel. Whilst over in the West, Joey Janela faced Brandon Gatson, EFFY battled Santana Jackson, Miedo Extremo went to war with Adrian Quest, and many more fights led to a deathmatch finale between Jimmy Lloyd and Ciclope. There is an absolute mountain of matches to get through so let’s waste no more time and get into the action.

Part 1: East Coast

Gabriel Skye defeated Vinny Pacifico & Jason Kincaid (w/Johnny Youngblood) via Skye Fall on Pacifico

Things kicked off with a chaotic three-way dance between VxS favourite Gabriel Skye, the debuting Vinny Pacifico, and the returning gift Jason Kincaid. We had three fast, high-flying fighters about to do their thing to get some pulses racing. Skye is the gatekeeper of VxS, was either opponent going to get the better of him? neither could but it wasn’t for a lack of trying. This was awesome. It was a three-way spectacle fest with everyone pulling off their best. There was power, technique, and a whole lot of creativity on display. Pacifico impressed amongst the more seasoned competition whilst Kincaid and Skye showed why they’re so damn good at the wrestling game. VxS made a smart choice kicking off with this one. Skye had won but he was still pissed at the fact he has to continue to prove himself. Even as an outsider, he’s shown he’s the best and now he wants a real challenge.

Doors Match: Dr Redacted defeated Big F’N Vin via Taz-mission

Time for the first taste of hardcore for the night as Dr Redacted came back to hurl abuse and skewer some people. He was in for a big F’N challenge this time as he was in a Doors match with Big F’N Vin. Could the deadly doctor get another big win in VxS or was he about to be flattened into oblivion by Vin? Well, this one got pretty damn violent. Redacted opened with a tirade against Vin’s dad, ECW’s 911, and promised to choke him out like Taz. What followed was an angry Vin getting skewered before throwing the good doctor through a whole lot of doors. The Doc refused to die and ended up getting the win by misting Vin, spearing him through a door, and choking him out with the Taz-Mission. There was a lot of broken plunder left when this one ended and a bloodied, smiling Dr Redacted who was pleased with his handiwork. Though he was probably still loopy after pulling a Sasuke and missing a trashcan dive.

Wasted Youth (Marcus Mathers & Dyln McKay) defeated Wrestling Prodigies (Jackson Drake & Jay Malachi) via The Flying Combo on both

The next contest was a battle of the young and hungry. We had the H2O superstars Wasted Youth taking the fight to the Wrestling Prodigies. Would it be Mathers and McKay or Drake and Malachi getting the big win here? Regardless of who won, both teams were going to take each other to the limit and look damn great doing it. Drake and Malachi knew the odds were against them here so they did everything in their power to make the match theirs. Starting with a brawl and keeping Mathers out of the match by beating the tar out of McKay, continuously cutting the ring in half to keep laying in the punishment. It couldn’t last and when the match exploded, everyone got to show off and have a blast. Wasted Youth got the win but both teams had definitely left their impression on the company. There was so much cocky energy in this match that the wrestler’s ability had backed up. The match was given room to breathe and these four made the absolute most of it.

Yoya defeated Kevin Ku via Steel Chair Brainbuster

Now, for one of my most-anticipated matches of the night. This one promised to be one of the hardest-hitting, most technically aggressive matches of the night as these two have plenty of MMA training and every tool in the book to hurt each other. It was time for Yoya vs Kevin Ku. This was exactly what I wanted to see. It became a wild mix of brawling, hardcore, and Yoya being as much of a dick as possible since Kevin Ku refused to give him any respect. Yoya started trying to break the ankle Ku had sprained in a previous fight and worked to match how nasty Ku had hit him earlier in the match. It turns out this was Yoya’s match to win and dominate. He had felt disrespected so he made sure Ku was paying the full price for that. Even then, Ku was hanging in there and giving back whenever he could, hitting like a wrecking ball. It took a Brainbuster onto a chair to get Yoya the win in the end as Ku just wouldn’t quit by conventional methods. The match was over but Yoya wasn’t done and wanted to keep killing Ku with some forearms. It was all very heated, just like the match had been. Yoya doesn’t care about fans’ reactions, he just wants wins and to inflict pain. I can get behind that.

Andrew Everett defeated Lucky 13 via Everett Style Moonsault

This is a really unfair contest. Lucky 13 is a highly-gifted athlete but could he take on the might of a 7ft 4 Giant? That’s right VxS was bringing in Andrew Everett, the ultimate giant of wrestling, and pairing him with the ultimate King of Dive Style. This was going to be a fun one. We had comedy and tragedy in this one as Lucky 13 started off lethargic and eventually kicked into gear to take down the giant. We got a recreation of the famous body slam from 13 and a whole bunch of ridiculous high-flying fun. It made for an excellent return from intermission and gave us a match that span many plates successfully. There were so many gigantic moments from Mount Everett and the comeback of a lifetime from 13. It was all great fun and a really well-constructed match. It was hard not to smile through this one as these two just got to work and had a blast whilst doing so. Not too much to say, just watch for yourself.

Pure Rules: Robert Martyr defeated Tracy Williams via Arm-trapped Cradle

Robert Martyr is probably one of wrestling’s top prospects. Despite being incredibly young, he continues to show off every level of veteran savvy when it comes to wrestling and gives it his all whenever he’s in a ring. He claims to be the mat bully and now, he was getting one hell of a challenge as he took on one of the masters of the craft, Hot Sauce Tracy Williams under pure rules. That meant there were only three rope breaks allowed per wrestler. No pun intended but this could be one hell of a hot contest. Again, this match doesn’t necessarily require that many words. Pure rules always lead to some of the most competitive, technically-charged matches in the company and this became another one of those. Williams seemed unimpressed with Martyr during the early stages of the match so Martyr went all-out to make Williams notice him and treat him as an equal. That seemed to work as Williams started to bring his best and up the ante on the Poisoned Youth. It was an exceptional contest that had everyone captivated. It got very physical and took its toll on both fighters as the match wore on. Both had brought their best and the other kept kicking out. Nothing seemed to work so they just kept butting heads. Williams seemed to have Martyr in trouble when all of a sudden, Martyr trapped the arm and rolled him into a pinfall. Martyr had just gotten a massive win over one of the most well-established veterans on the scene. They sealed the deal with a handshake and left everyone eagerly awaiting a rematch. The protege of Daniel Garcia is taking names and making statements.

Zachary Wentz defeated Shane Mercer via UFO Cutter

Last but not least for Part 1, the first main event of the evening. VxS was getting too sick for this world by bringing in Zachary Wentz. However, they weren’t giving him any normal opponent, he was going to have to contend with the Iron Demon, Shane Mercer. It would be Rascal vs Iron Demon to end this part of the show and everyone was hyped. As expected, Wentz had to learn the hard way about Mercer’s strength, but managed to use his agility and the environment to get the better of Mercer and turn things in his favour. It still wasn’t smooth sailing though as Mercer kept picking him up and throwing him around like a ragdoll. Wentz kept hanging in there and eventually got his moment to strike again, taking out the Iron Demon in style with the UFO Cutter after a super Destroyer and handspring knee. It was an exciting main event fight with Wentz picking up his first VxS win. It ended the first part of this super show with a bang whilst making Mercer still look like a monster. That ended the East Coast counterpart after a barrage of excellent matches and some top-tier commentary from Emilio Sparks and the Grim Reefer. They’d set the tone off right, now it was time for the West Coast to kick it up even higher.

Part 2: West Coast

Jordan Oliver defeated Yuya Uemura via Clout Cutter

The West Coast wanted to keep the party going with the ace of the company kicking off this half of the show. Jordan Oliver was back in business and was welcoming one of wrestling’s top prospects to VxS, Yuya Uemura. The former NJPW Young Lion, now on his excursion, was getting a baptism by fire as he had to take on Oliver on his turf. It started respectfully with a handshake and proceeded to become a nice clash of styles as Uemura brought the NJPW style to Oliver, mixing technicality and striking to great effect. Oliver wanted it all and more, pushing Uemura to hit harder and bring that fight. It was another high-energy contest with both guys kicking off the second half with some fireworks and nasty shots. It was fast, furious, and gave us the best of both fighters whilst potentially leaving more room for more should Uemura head to VxS in the future.

Miedo Extremo defeated Adrian Quest via Bridging German Suplex

It was time for the first of two Los Macizos matches on the card. The team was flying solo and Miedo Extremo was the first up, bringing some Lucha horror to Young Fuego, Adrian Quest. This was going to be a wild one as both guys aren’t afraid of getting manic and trying to break the laws of gravity. They opened with some rapid technicality and high-flying spectacle before Extremo focused on Quest’s arm and tried to break it. This was a focused attack with Extremo using his holds, kicks, and the ropes to damage that arm further. Quest didn’t let the weakened arm stop him from getting his shots in and continuously injecting more energy and fire into the match. The pair kept throwing bombs and getting up to unleash even more heavy artillery. It was just explosive stretch after explosive stretch with both guys going all-out. Miedo Extremo got the win after an absolute masterclass of a match but Quest had been just as impressive. This was excellent and reminded everyone that Miedo Extremo is more than just a deathmatch wrestler, he can go in any style.

Kevin Blackwood defeated Cole Radrick & Jordan Cruz via Double Stomp on Cruz

The card was always subject to change and since B-Boy was nursing an injury, Kevin Blackwood had been thrown into a triple-threat. Cole Radrick and the Modern Spartan Jordan Cruz were about to step up to the Aesthetic Crippler and steal his thunder. We had a mix of styles ready to make an intriguing fight. They certainly made the most of the time as Cruz had to fight his way into the match after Radrick and Blackwood did their best to keep him out. It turned out it was for good reason as when he was in the ring, he stole the spotlight. All three fighters brought their best for this makeshift match and put on another fun three-way dance for this marathon of matches. Radrick excels in any match type and Blackwood was using this new opportunity to keep his VxS run kicking. Blackwood keeps his momentum going with another win as he went from having to beat one opponent, to beating two in one match.

Joey Janela defeated Brandon Gatson via Package Piledriver

Oh boy, here comes another big one. Joey Janela was returning to VxS and aimed to cut down a West Coast veteran superstar. He was going one-on-one with Brandon Gatson in a veteran’s showcase match. Janela is still after those flowers he feels he deserves and Gatson was going to be his next victim. This was going to be a very different style of the match after Janela had to fend off Santana Jackson at the last one. Janela wasn’t out to make friends with this one. He tried to start fast but found himself on the receiving end of a Gatson Beatdown. Even when he started wearing down the west coast favourite, there was the continuous chance that Gatson was going to fire off again and nail Janela with an even more high-impact offence. It was a continuous roller coaster ride of a match with both guys making something special from this pairing. Janela has caused another upset with his win here after going for nearly 15 minutes with Gatson and those fists of fury. These two had beaten the hell out of each other with Janela getting the better of it today.

Matthew Justice defeated Rob Shit via Trashcan Crush Splash

Things clearly hadn’t gotten violent enough yet as VxS was bringing in Rob Shit and Matthew Justice for a hardcore match. The man that CTE forgot had brought out his own trashcan full of chairs and was ready to break them all over Shit. He’d even brought the Sledge-o-Matic with him just to give this plunder fest some California flavour. To no one’s surprise, this match was crazy as hell. It started as a wild brawl and descended into plunder-based madness as the pair beat the life out of each other around the venue, enjoying beers and bludgeoning along the way. It was definitely a painful one as these two took some awful bumps and ate some vicious landings for doing so. Matthew Justice came out on top after one of the wildest VxS matches to date. It defies words and probably several different trains of logic but goddamn was it fun. That is one of those matches that needed to be seen to be believed. Rob Shit legit had his head crushed in a trashcan to end this one. it was brutal. Nothing says match well done quite like a post-match White Claw.

EFFY defeated Santana Jackson via Roll-up

Things were about to get even wilder as Santana Jackson was back in VxS and ready to get bad. This time, he was facing everyone’s Daddy, EFFY. We had two highly unpredictable forces in this match who could feasibly do anything, anywhere. Anything was allowed in this one and you bet these two were going to make the most of that lack of rule set. We got plenty of early match dancing with EFFY and Jackson competing in other fields apart from wrestling. They eventually came to blows and put on one of the most entertaining matches of the night. Both competitors are so unique and that carried this match along. Both were having fun and the crowd were along for the ride. It was just infectiously enjoyable, putting a goofy smile on my face the whole time. The second this match was announced I was looking forward to it, I was glad to learn my hype wasn’t misplaced. We even got another Thriller moment. I challenge anyone to watch this one and not have fun. EFFY craftily nicked the win after dodging death by choke-out. That left Jackson pissed. He attacked post-match and made EFFY beat it.

Brian Cage defeated Nick Wayne via Drill Claw

Sometimes you need to be careful what you wish for. Nick Wayne is one of the hottest up-and-comers on the scene right now. He’s a wrestling prodigy, the ultimate underdog and loves nothing more than a challenge. The problem is, he’d laid out a challenge to the Machine, Brian Cage. There was a massive size disparity at play here and Cage was going to have some fun abusing that. Wayne had his work cut out for him here. He definitely tried to take the fight to the Machine and used his smarts and agility to try and get around the strength disparity but that couldn’t stop him from getting thrown around. It was a cat and mouse game of back-and-forth with Wayne once again being the underdog to Cage’s smash and grab style. Cage is one of the only people left undefeated in VxS and unfortunately for Wayne, he wasn’t the one to change that. He gave Cage everything but couldn’t find a way to keep him down. He tried everything but Cage kept finding the will to kick out or a way to escape. Wayne was just as durable until Cage spiked him on his head with the Drill Claw. It was a valiant effort but Cage makes it 10-0 in VxS now. Even Cage was impressed with Nick Wayne. That’s yet another name added to the Wayne is the future list. After the niceties, Jordan Oliver came out to challenge Brian Cage. The Ace wants to end that undefeated streak and made his point with a handshake… into a cutter.

Deathmatch: Jimmy Lloyd defeated Ciclope via Weed Whacked Ganso Bomb

The show was going to end with a good old dose of ultraviolence. Los Macizos was closing the show as Ciclope concluded the event with some Lucha Extrema against the original ace of VxS, Jimmy F’N Lloyd. These two promised to end things in a shower of broken plunder and crimson with a whole lot of Lucha thrown in. These two are no strangers to each other so the fun was all but guaranteed. Godamn, they packed so much into this match. It was fast-paced, bloody as all fuck and full of shocking moments. Ciclope wrestled a large part of this match with either a gusset in his head or a syringe in his eyebrow. Lloyd bled like hell after a gusset in the head and ate all kinds of horrifying chair shots. The pair also took turns tasting the sting and slicing off a weedwhacker as Lloyd upped the ante. in the end, that weedwhacker was what helped Lloyd seal the win. He’d nailed Ciclope in the gut with it then dropped him on his head with a Ganso Bomb. It was ultraviolent entertainment with both guys getting bloody for their art. It was an excellent way to end the show with a whole lot of viciousness packed in. This match meant a lot to Lloyd as he and Los Macizos are like family and he was glad to have brought them into the VxS fold. It was a very convincing introduction and I hope to hell we keep seeing Los Macizos in the US. This recent run has been incredible and their first VxS show showed off just how good both of them are in very different ways.
